September 14, 2024 — Florence Mineral and Gem Show

Get ready to be dazzled by the Florence Mineral & Gem Show! This amazing event will feature vendors from all over, showcasing a wide variety of rocks, gems, jewelry, crystals, fossils and more. Located at the Florence Event Center on the stunning central Oregon coast, this is an event you won't want to miss! Come and explore local materials, interact with experts, and bring your mystery rocks to be identified. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn about Oregon coast geology and have fun for all ages. Don't miss out - entry fee is only $2, and it's free for 18 and under.

September 28, 2024 — Florence Festival of Books

The FACE team has another blockbuster Festival of Books planned for September 28th, 2024 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. By popular demand, the workshop capacity is expanding.  Local authors -- Robin Woods and Ned Hickson -- will return along with three new presenters. Nationally known Keynote and Panel Speakers are Dr. Scott Donaldson and Ken Babbs, and our exciting Kids’ Workshop will be coordinated by local teacher/artist Kassy Keppol. Admission is only $2 for Exhibition Hall only, $5 for Hall + Keynote, and $10 All-Access. Students 18 and under are admitted free. Yachats

Every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM — Yachats Farmers Market

The market is open from 9 am to 2 pm every Sunday through October at its traditional location on West Fourth Street just off U.S. Highway 101. The market will offer produce, plants, meats, smoked cheeses and mushrooms, along with pottery, jewelry, glass and metal art, handmade soaps and more. Well-behaved dogs are allowed – but “no biting, no fighting.”

August through September — Humpback Whale Watching

Did you know August and September are prime months for humpback whale watching on the Oregon Coast? Many visitors only think of whale watching during Winter and Spring migrations, but whales can often be sighted year-round from Newport and Depoe Bay.

September 20-22, 2024 — Newport Pride

Newport Oregon Pride creates programs and activities to enrich, empower, strengthen, and make visible the unique lives and experiences of LGBTQIA2S+ people on the Oregon Coast.

September 7-8, 2024 — Agate Beach Surf Classic

Newport Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the annual Agate Beach Surf Classic presented by Ossies Surf Shop, Ninkasi Brewing Company, and the Newport Chamber of Commerce! Local volunteers working alongside City staff make this amazing event with competitors coming from the PNW. This is a two-day competition held at Agate Beach with surfing divisions for adults and youth. Proceeds from the contest goes towards the youth scholarship fund at the Newport Recreation Center. This funding allows children from Lincoln County economically disadvantaged households the opportunity to participate in a number of fantastic programs.
