- C.R.O.W. Dance Showcase
May 10 & 11, 2019 @ 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Florence Events Center, 715 Quince Street, Florence
Dancers of all ages will take the stage as C.R.O.W. presents a mixed genre Spring Dance Showcase. C.R.O.W. encourages local audiences to come and support the wonderful performers. The Flight Dance Team will debut several original choreography pieces, including a sassy jazz called “I Feel it Still,” an upbeat retro tap titled “Someday,” and a brand new hip hop piece called “Pray.” The Showcase will feature class performances by C.R.O.W.’s Youth Ballet, Contemporary, and Hip Hop classes, and local adult dancers will dazzle audiences with exotic and unusual genres. There will be several mesmerizing solo, duo, and small group performances and the hilarious Tutu Dads will pirouette back to the stage, with another epic crowd-pleaser. Marine Debris Cleanup – Cape Cove Beach
May 11th – 12 noon meet at Cape Perpetua Visitor Center
Join us on the beach for a marine debris cleanup at Cape Cove Beach. This project is great for anyone who would like to give 1-2 hours of their time, contribute to science and clean up beaches touching Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and Protected Areas.
Please meet at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center and walk down to the beach from there. The path is mostly paved, but the gravel trail to beach access includes stairs. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
We will survey 100 yards of Cape Cove Beach. This includes flat sandy beach, wood debris, cobble rocks and lava rock. Most of the debris we find is located in the rocky and woody areas. After the survey, we will collect our finds, sort and document. The plastic items are kept for re-use in various projects.
2019 Rhododendron Festival “Rhody Days”
May 15 – 19, 2019 – May 20, 2019
Come join us the third weekend in May. Our Rhododendrons, that thrive along the Oregon Coast, are of course the stars of the Festival and we celebrate their beauty! The spectacular display of hundreds of Rhododendrons takes place at the Florence Events Center. Enjoy the Street Vendor Fair, Car Show, 5K run and the Carnival with rides, games and a few surprises. Join us Sunday for the 112th annual Rhododendron Floral Parade. The festival officially begins with the Rhody Showcase to crown “Queen Rhododendra” Wednesday May 16th. And while you are in the area, be sure to visit our fabulous shops, restaurants and the many adventures found only in Florence. The Florence Rhododendron Festival is the second-oldest flower festival in Oregon and third oldest on the West Coast.

Art Quilts Melange – The Works of Hollis Chatelain

FRAA Art Fest

Sun. May 19th – 11:00am – 4:00pmThe Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) presents a not-to-be-missed show by local and coastal artists and craftsman during Rhody Days. This year’s festival theme, “Coastal Canvas,” is sure to inspire artists to capture their experiences of living on the coast in innovative ways. Visitors will experience and delight in the unique artistry and have a chance to meet the artists who have crafted these works. This show coincides with the Rhododendron Show at the Florence Events Center and the citywide Florence Rhododendron Festival.
